The city has suffered and they deserve better after watching this team suck balls the entire new millennium.

2) A Championship in Detroit - Red Wings won last year, but I want more. Hopefully the Wings will repeat, Pistons break through (somehow), or the Tigers achieve what they're capable of. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 194px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SVPMAzMPefI/AAAAAAAAAGU/wNM5Ok2n3tc/s320/340x.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5283791101949344242" />

3) An NCAA Tournament for the Wolverines - Michigan hasn't been to the Big Dance since 1998, and technically that didn't count because of NCAA violations. They've put together an impressive resume so far, so they just need to have a solid conference record. If they get in, I'll probably cry. I've waited so long for this.

4) Improvement from the Michigan football team - I don't expect them to win the Big 10 next year. But I just want to see marked improvement. They're definitely going to be better next year.

5) An Arrested Development movie - the show has become my obsession. So freaking funny. There are rumors of a movie for 2009. Let's hope it's true.

That's all I can come up with right now.

THANKSGIVING

I was bored, so I decided to make a list of things I was thankful for:

- Hunter - he never ceases to make me smile

- Waffle-makers

- Charlie Weis jokes - he is really fat and retarded<img style="float:right; Ok, not really, mainly Pat's room as well as Paul and I. But it is an amazing thing. This German singing/acting/cheering/judging sensation has united this campus like never before. So I decided to remind people why you should admire David Hasselhoff.

So if you've ever seen the Spongebob Squarepants movie, you know that it features a cameo by the Hoff. The portion of the movie that he's in is probably my favorite. It's just so stupid and funny.

Although he is definitely mocking himself in that cameo, he was a wildly successful actor on both "Baywatch" and "Knightrider". People make fun of him ruthlessly, but he actually isn't a waste.

Not only is he an actor, but also a wildly successful musician. For instance:

and:

The first music video is what it is - crazy. Nobody knows what's going on. And I don't think anyone truly tries to understand, it's futile. But, it is still awesome. The second is about David trying to pick up a girl on the street, offering her a ride home. He spends half his time trying to get her in the car and she finally complies. Nobody expects what follows. While driving, he asks where she lives and when she says it's far from here, he gets upset and tells her to get out of the car. Seriously? hahahah. Don't hassle the Hoff.

Some people don't know this, but when the Berlin Wall was being torn down, who was standing above it all, leading the people in a concert celebrating freedom? That's right: David Hasselhoff. Notice his jacket. Spectacular. And his scarf.

The past couple years, the hit TV show "America's Got Talent" has been occupying most of David's time. I never really had a desire to watch the show, but when I watched an episode I got sucked in. Mainly because of the "Nuttin but Stringz" act, which is awesome BTW, but also because of the Hoff's sound judgment when it comes to analyzing talent. Impeccable. Actually, I don't think he's ever seen an act he didn't like. Even the 25 tap dancing dads, who were horrendous. However, his most powerful statement was made about a 4 year old girl who sings Disney songs. She's adorable and there's no way I can seriously criticize her, but there's no way anyone would go to her show in Vegas (which is the grand prize). After her performance, David told her, "You have brought America together!" And he was totally serious. Hahaha. Oh my.

But if there's an ultimate reason to love David Hasselhoff, it's what I'm going to leave you with. My lasting impression of David Hasselhoff. If you watch any video on this post, you HAVE to watch this one:

PAUL GAYDEMA

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SNhOlNUEZSI/AAAAAAAAAFs/w21xZC_5U2M/s320/n178200298_30613929_3534.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249031766836274466" />
WAH. So I'm going to do them again, except to a much lesser extent. And for proof that I picked everything right.

Conference winners:
ACC: Wake Forest over Virginia Tech
Big XII: Oklahoma over Missouri
SEC: Florida over Auburn
Pac 10: USC
Big East: West Virginia
Sun Belt: Florida Atlantic
MAC: Central Michigan
WAC: Fresno State
Mountain West: BYU
Big 10: Michigan. I can't pick against them. Even thought this probably won't happen. I can onlly hope for a repeat of 1969. I'm excited to see how Rich Rodriguez has made some much needed changes with the program. But Michigan is full of tradition and those are things that he can't change. Things such as the winged helmet,<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SLi-xiwDSbI/AAAAAAAAAEw/lfbeipPRuRg/s320/football_team.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240147924796787122" /> the "GO BLUE" banner they jump and touch when they run out onto the field, the greatest fight song known to man and things such as that. He has added a new tradition though. It's called the Victor's March. The team is dropped off the bus about 200 yards from the stadium and the band will play the fight song while leading them into the Big House. I thought that was really cool.

There's a little known tradition that was started by Lloyd Carr. Every friday night, the defense would get together and recite a poem. "The Law of the Wolves" by Rudyard Kipling (author of the Jungle Book). Lloyd has had his team do this for a while and I think it goes back to his days as defensive coordinator. I read the poem and I really liked it:

Now this is the law of the jungle, as old and as true as the sky,
And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.

As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back;
For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.

Wash daily from nose tip to tail tip; drink deeply, but never too deep;
And remember the night is for hunting and forget not the day is for sleep.

The jackal may follow the tiger, but, cub, when thy whiskers are grown,
Remember the wolf is a hunter—go forth and get food of thy own.

Keep peace with the lords of the jungle, the tiger, the panther, the bear;
And trouble not Hathi the Silent, and mock not the boar in his lair.

When pack meets with pack in the jungle, and neither will go from the trail,
Lie down till the leaders have spoken; it may be fair words shall prevail.

When ye fight with a wolf of the pack ye must fight him alone and afar,
Lest others take part in the quarrel and the pack is diminished by war.

The lair of the wolf is his refuge, and where he has made him his home,
Not even the head wolf may enter, not even the council may come.

The lair of the wolf is his refuge, but where he has digged it too plain,
The council shall send him a message, and so he shall change it again.

If ye kill before midnight be silent and wake not the woods with your bay,
Lest ye frighten the deer from the crop and thy brothers go empty away.

Ye may kill for yourselves, and your mates, and your cubs as they need and ye can;
But kill not for pleasure of killing, and seven times never kill man.

If ye plunder his kill from a weaker, devour not all in thy pride,
Pack-right is the right of the meanest; so leave him the head and the hide.

The kill of the pack is the meat of the pack. Ye must eat where it lies;
And no one may carry away of that meat to his lair, or he dies.

The kill of the wolf is the meat of the wolf. He may do what he will,
But, till he is given permission, the pack may not eat of that kill.

Lair right is the right of the mother. From all of her years she may claim
One haunch of each kill for her litter, and none may deny her the same.

Cub right is the right of the yearling. From all of his pack he may claim
Full gorge when the killer has eaten; and none may refuse him the same.

Cave right is the right of the father, to hunt by himself for his own;
He is freed from all calls to the pack. He is judged by the council alone.

Because of his age and his cunning, because of his gripe and his paw,
In all that the law leaveth open the word of the head wolf is law.

Now these are the laws of the jungle, and many and mighty are they;
But the head and the hoof of the law and the haunch and the hump is—Obey!

Even with Lloyd retired, the defense has decided to continue the tradition. It's so cool that I've decided that I'm going to recite this poem every Friday night as well. I bolded my favorite line. I love it.

Hopefully Michigan pulls out a victory tomorrow. Lots of ANALysts are saying that Utah will beat Michigan, but I'm optimistic. 31-17 Michigan. GO BLUE!

DA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA BATMAN!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SLBh6tEqNjI/AAAAAAAAAEg/sbXXc9LlwzA/s320/batman.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237794027791332914" />
If you couldn't tell, that's the Batman theme song.

In lieu of the Dark Knight being the second best movie in history, I decided to revisit some of my Batman memories of the past. I used to watch reruns of the old live action Batman show, starring Adam West. It was so cheesy, but that was the point. I thought it was cool how everytime Batman and Robin punched someone it was say "POW" or something like that on the screen. So cool.

I watched some of the Batman movies from the 80's and 90's. The ones with Michael Keaton are alright. However, Val Kilmer and George Clooney were very poor choices for the caped crusader. Especially Clooney. But I'll talk about that later.

But the best part of this little venture down memory lane was Batman: The Animated Series. It's what I watched every Saturday as a kid and it is awesome. On IMDB it has a 9.2 star rating, which only trails Seinfeld, The Office, and Scrubs (coincidentally, three of my favorite shows) in star rating. You can watch full episodes of the show here: http://video.aol.com/show/batman-the-animated-series. In the first episode, Batman is fighting crime and he discovers that the the main criminal he is facing is a woman. He is obviously shocked and the lady says "What, surprised to fight a girl" or something like that and Batman replies with "No, I'm an equal opportunity crime fighter." I laughed a long time after that line. But it shows that Batman really does have the best interest of the people at heart. Which is why he's the best superhero ever. Another interesting note about this series is who plays the voice of Jack Napier/The Joker. The voice is none other than Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammill). And you thought Luke never did anything with his life after Star Wars. Hah.

After watching all this Batman material, I decided that I'm ready to decide who my favorite Batman is and my favorite villains are.

Best Batman - Kevin Conroy - The voice of Bruce Wayne in the animated series. Batman is super buff in this show and this actor effectively portrays both Wayne and Batman. His character is really dark for a kid's cartoon, but that's why the show is so good.

Worst Batman - George Clooney - He starred as the dark knight in the worst Batman movie ever made. Maybe that's why I think he sucks. But still, he just wasn't a good Batman. He's not very strong and I don't see Batman when I look at him. And watching him, I don't see why everybody loves him. He's been real good in some stuff (Ocean movies, ER, Facts of Life) and terrible in others (Leatherheads, Spy Kid movies). I don't get why people adore him. Overrated.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SLBiCYvw2zI/AAAAAAAAAEo/cFfPMu81cLI/s320/joker2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237794159773932338" />Favorite Villain - The Joker - probably saw this coming. It's an easy choice. Although Heath Ledger's portrayal is probably the most memorable, he was my favorite villain before "The Dark Knight". Jack Nicholson did a good job playing him as did Luke Skywalker. Every portrayal of the Joker is demented, but each one is unique, which is why he's so great.

Worst Villain - Mr. Freeze - So unrealistic. I mostly like the villains that make sense. And it doesn't make sense. And Arnold Schwarzenegger playing him just made it worst. Stupid.

All in all, Batman is just cool in every way.

SUMMER OLYMPICS

Before the Olympics started my friend asked me if I would watch it alot and I told him I wouldn't because I didn't like the Olympics that much. I didn't think I did at least. But I've been watching a little bit every night.

And this may sound unpatriotic, but I don't root for the USA in the Olympics. I think we're a bunch of arrogant di*** and I can see why alot of other countries hate us. I honestly hope the United States basketball team doesn't medal. Mainly cuz I hate how the team is composed. All superstars, no role players (except Tayshaun, but he's not expected to get alot of PT, which is dumb). I root for Italy in everything. I know I'm only a quarter Italian, but I just like to root for them. In the 2006 World Cup, I rooted for Italy and they won. Cuz they're sweet. And I know that Italy has virtually no chance of getting more medals than the US, but I don't care.

I do root for some Americans though. However, I will only root for an American if they have some sort of affiliation with the University of Michigan. It's more people than you think. Here's a list of all the Michigan athletes participating in the Olypmics: http://mgoblue.com/history/article.aspx?id=142024. Maybe I'm weird, but I just support everything about UofM. Most of them have been fairly successful, so it's been nice to watch someone I root for win. I haven't experienced much of that lately *cough* Tigers *cough*.

My favorite Olympian is Peter Vanderkaay. He's overshadowed by Michael Phelps, but he's a great swimmer. Of course, he is a UofM grad, but what's really cool is that his older brother, Christian, attended Michigan, one of his younger brothers, Alex, is currently at Michigan and his youngest brother, Dane, should be going there also. What a great family. The 1500M freestyle is the event I'm most looking forward to. Seriously, 30 laps. Crazy. Hopefully, he'll win.

My least favorite is Misty May/Kerri Walsh. I hate them. They're old and I'm sick of hearing about them. Who cares about women's beach volleyball anyways.

But sometimes, I don't even watch for the athletes. There are certain events that I just enjoy watching. I really like synchronized diving. I don't know how they do those complicated maneuvers, let alone at the same time. I also like swimming alot, mainly cuz I was on a swim team when I was younger. I have alot of respect for swimmers, they're in amazing physical shape (as are most Olympians, but these guys are on another level). Water Polo is really sweet too. It looks like the toughest sport to play. I'm not really a big fan of Track and Field but I like the long jump and pole vault.

Just a side note, but one thing I hate about watching the Olympics is all the political commercials. I don't like either of the candidates and I despise the corruption involved in politics. I think it's ironic that I have to watch commercials where the candidates bash each other while I'm watching the Olympics which is supposed to support national unity.

AMERICA'S ROCKIN ROLLER COAST

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SJoUObpjA0I/AAAAAAAAAEQ/SAGPnFSpxAs/s320/n1427430284_30217419_6625.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231516155316994882" />On Tuesday, I went to one of my favorite places in the world. Cedar Point. I've been going there every year since I was like 3. I spend the night at my cousin's (who you should really meet Jessica, cuz he loves Disney more than you. Hard to believe but true. He also thought it was cool that you got an internship with them) house on Monday and we left for Sandusky, Ohio at 8 A.M. It was HOT. And pretty humid too. The worst kind of weather for a Cedar Point trip, but it was still fun. I achieved all of my goals for the day, so the trip was a success. The only coaster I didn't get to go on was the Top Thrill Dragster. It's a cool ride, but not worth the long wait. It's good to go on at least once in your life, but if you don't get to go on it every visit, don't feel bad because it's not that great. People mainly think of roller coasters when they think of the Point, but it has other offerings as well. Here are some of the other things you can do at Cedar Point:

1. Steamboat, Train and Bonesville- If you wish, you can take a steamboat tour of the park. It's kinda cool, and just a way to relax if you're tired. It's not a long wait and not many people really know about it. If you don't feel like walking all the way to Frontiertown, which is in the back, you can take the train. It's alot faster and easier than walking and you get to see a nice view of Lake Erie. Also if you take the train that leaves from Frontiertown, you get a tour of Bonesville. It's basically a bunch of robotic skeletons doing weird things. It's really goofy and cheesy, but I think it's kinda funny too.

2. People Watching - With so many people in one place, you see alot of interesting things. I'll share some of the highlights of my day later on. Even if you don't like amusement parks, this aspect of Cedar Point is well worth the admission.

3. Restaurants - All the restaurants in the park have good food. There's Coasters, which is a 50's style diner with good burgers, the Midway Market, which is an inexpensive (for Cedar Point standards) buffet, and yesterday we stopped at Joe Cool's Cafe, which is a Peanuts themed restaurant. It wasn't any more expensive than Applebee's, so that was good. I got a Buffalo Chicken salad, and it was tasty. There's also a Johnny Rocket's and some homestyle buffet that I forget the name of. The restaurants are probably a better deal than any of the vendors you buy from.

4. Shows - There's a couple of shows you can go to. There's a weird auditorium thing that used to hold dolphins, then they turned it into a diving show for people, and now it's an extreme sports arena, but they weren't having a show the day I was there and I probably wouldn't have gone anyways. There's also Snoopy on Ice if you wish to cool down. But my favorite shows are the musicals they have. One is a Saloon type place and they really like to have the crowd participate. One year, my dad had to go on stage and do the Can-Can. He did it completely wrong and it was embarrassing. For me at least. But this year, I went to a show called "Signed Sealed Delivered" which featured all music from the 50's and 60's. They tricked me with the title, cuz I thought it was going to be mostly Motown music, but the only music from that genre was two Stevie Wonder songs, an Aretha song, and one from The Supremes. I thought they shoulda just focused on the Motown aspect and sung mostly that, but they sang alot of songs that I feel only senior citizens could recognize, cuz I'd never heard alot of them. And they only had two black singers. You need more than that.

5. Beach - My favorite thing to do towards the end of the day is go to the beach. You just have to get stamped at the exit so you can get back into the park and after that you can enjoy the nice little beach they have there. It's really relaxing to just stand in the cool water after you've been walking around all day. The sand is fairly nice, not the greatest, but the water is pretty clear there. Maybe I just like it so much because I never go to beaches any other time of the year, but would like to.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SJoUXKwTN6I/AAAAAAAAAEY/Ekc7Bn0ULak/s320/Land%2520of%2520Coaster%25202.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231516305400739746" /> Here's just some interesting things I noticed while I was there:
- A middle aged couple grinding up on each other to music outside of Johnny Rockets. They weren't even eating at the restaurant and it probably ruined the actual customers' meal. It was just weird. And their kids were right there too.
- I was on the carousel and there was one kid running around the carousel outside who was pretending he was on a horse and was making a whipping motion. He was fat too, so it was just humorous.
- There is a lot of couple activity throughout the park. One couple was making out on a bench. It was disgusting. First off, nobody needs to be kissing that aggressively in the first place, secondly, do it in private, not in public.
- Things guys do to impress girls. It's mainly the high school guys, but there's a bunch of adults that do it to. They're always trying to draw attention to themselves by doing the most obnoxious things. If I ever act like that, punch me in the groin. Not the balls, the groin, it won't hurt as bad as the nuts, but it's close enough to send a message.
- Cleavage, cleavage, cleavage, cleavage. It is everywhere. It is annoying. I know some girls can't help it, but I hate that I can't look anywhere without seeing half a boob.
- Lots of foreigners work at Cedar Point. I don't understand why. It's hard to understand them too.
- Here's a funny story. At least I think it is. We were in the car of the Blue Streak and the workers have to go through the safety procedures and while they were checking the seatbelts, instead of snapping the seatbelt, this lady snapped the elastic of my cousin's shorts. Neither of them knew what to do or say, so they just kinda stared at each other for a while. Then she apologized alot and he was still kinda shocked. He got more than he bargained for on this ride.
- Another story. We were on the swing ride and this little kid outside the gate was crying for his mom. He was crying for like the whole time and his mom yelled "you better stop or I'll take your gun!" (in reference to the toy gun he had bought at the park). Everybody's heads whirled around to look at her cuz she had just yelled gun, but then people realized what she was talking about. She was a little embarrassed.
- All the carnival games are a rip off. You could spend so much money trying to win prizes, but alot of them are just unfair. But sometimes, the customer is at fault because they're an idiot. There's a 3 point shooting contest and if you get 4-6 points you get a small stuffed animal, 7-11 points and you receive a basketball, and 12-15 points you get an NBA jersey. It's 5 bucks a pop and we were watching it for a while and this one guy was there forever. When we got there, he was already really sweaty, so he had obviously been doing it for a while but we watched him go 5 times. It was pitiful. He never got better than a stuffed animal and probably spent around $40 on this thing. You're already guaranteed to spend $50 MINIMUM for admission and food, so anything more is just ridiculous. Stupid.

Well this is already an extremely long post, so I think I'm done.

PISTONS SUMMER UPDATE

I was browsing the internet the other day and decided to check up on the how the Pistons summer league is going. These games don't feature any of the starters, it's mainly for the young players and guys that were just recently drafted so they can stay fresh with some playing time they wouldn't receive during the regular season and to introduce the new guys to the team's philosophy. The summer season only lasts about give games, but I've learned alot about the players from watching them on the internet.
Here's an analysis of how some of them are doing:

Trent Plaisted - I've heard alot of analysts compare him to Ben Wallace, which I admit, I don't really get the comparison. He does seem to have alot of energy and gets alot of rebounds BUT he's white, his hair is not quite as awesome (let's face it, it's not cool at all), and he's not as athletic. Ben Wallace truly was one of a kind. He'll be playing in Europe for a few seasons because there's no roster space for him.

Deron Washington - Ok, so this guy may never get a chance to play in the NBA, but man, this kid can fly. Literally. He's got crazy hops, no shot, crazy hops, average handles, crazy hops, too short for a Small Forward, crazy hops, and he can jump. That's about it. I would be in favor of signing him just because he is really entertaining. Here's a youtube mix for proof. My favorite part is when he jumps OVER Greg Paulus (douche) for a layup. Crazy.

Cheikh Samb - He's a very interesting prospect. He has size (7'1") but not big enough (less than 200 lbs.). He has a lot of potential, but needs to fill out quite a bit. He blocks alot of shots, mainly because of his huge wingspan, and it helps negate the fact that he is easily pushed around underneath the basket because he can still alter shots. He has a real nice jumper for a man his size, almost out to 3 point range. He defends the pick-and-roll really well too. I think he can develop into a solid contributor at the NBA level.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SIv0J3cB4YI/AAAAAAAAAEA/vsYdTiFYkns/s320/amirjohnsondunk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227540242831106434" />Amir Johnson - Pistons fans have been waiting for this guy to get consistent minutes ever since he was drafted out of high school. He oozes with potential and has been improving each and every year. He's freakishly long, which enables him to block an insane amount of shots. However, sometimes he falls in love with his shot-blocking ability and it prevents him from playing solid low post defense. He gets called for a lot of fouls because of this. Luckily there's a personal foul limit of 10 in the summer league, so he doesn't really have to worry about. Although he has reached the 9 foul mark twice. I wasn't overly impressed with his offensive skill set either. There were times he just seemed to throw the ball at the basket, using his athleticism to get the shot over defenders., instead of making a good move for a layup. It works for him now, but won't against NBA level defenders. He's also made some really poor decisions with the ball in his hands, leading to turnovers and points for the other team. It may seem like I'm being really harsh on Amir, but it's only because he has the most potential out of anybody on this list, and I'm just pointing out what he needs to improve. He's got alot of great qualities to his game though. As I already pointed out, he's a great shot blocker, but he also runs the floor better than most big men. He gets out in transition pretty quick and it leads to easy baskets. He also took on a leadership role for this team with it being his fourth year in the summer league. He's only 21 and still has time to improve, and I think he'll get there eventually.

Will Bynum - He has signed a contract with the teams, so he will definitely be on the roster. He has really good hops for a guy his size and is tenacious at getting to the basket. He still needs to develop a jump shot, but I don't think it will ever be that good. He can be a Lindsey Hunter type player - a pesky defender who can score in spurts. He won't be getting any significant minutes this year, and what little playing time he receives will ultimately depend on whether Lindsey retires or not.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SIv1Pag8hkI/AAAAAAAAAEI/Tf_c1qDj6Bc/s320/52376017.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227541437657941570" />Walter Sharpe - Every Pistons fan was skeptical when Joe Dumars drafted this guy with the 32nd pick in this years' draft, and I was part of that group. But after watching him play this summer, I'm in awe. He can do it all. He played a little point guard for the team this summer, which is not his position, and I was astounded by his ball handling skills. I watched video of him while he was in college, and it only showed him posting up. He has really good post movies, but I though that Joe had drafted a guy that could only score down low and not shoot. Oh how wrong I was. He can let it fly. I was really impressed by his shooting ability. His shot is smooth and his range extends beyond the three point line. He can drive to the basket and get his shot off in traffic. Down low he has a sick turn around jumper. Obviously he was very impressive. The only thing he needs to work on is his defense, which is decent but not that great. I'm expecting him to be Tayshaun's primary backup this year and if he's going to do that, he'll have to improve his defense because he'll be matched up against players like Paul Pierce, LeBron, Tracy McGrady etc. Drafting this guy in the second round could be a steal for the Pistons, he's a true sleeper prospect both literally - he's been diagnosed with narcolepsy - and figuratively - meaning he wasn't highly rated coming out of the draft. I'll be expecting big things from Mr. Sharpe down the road.

Arron Afflalo - He was the MVP of the summer team, at least IMO. He was the best defender every time he stepped out on the floor. He can guard any point guard or shooting guard in the league - not just the summer league, I'm talking the NBA. But we all knew about his defense, what made him great this summer was the offensive skill set he showed in games. He got to the basket and made his shots or got to the foul line - something the Pistons really need to do better as a team. He consistently knocked down jumpers which made him a very difficult player to defend. He played great every game and was a leader for the team on the floor, which was important because Rodney Stuckey could not play as a result of an injured big toe that he suffered the first game. Afflalo's minutes are really going to increase this upcoming season.

And just a side note, the reffing in the summer league is just as brilliant as the reffing during the regular season. Translation - awful.

MOVIE MAYHEM

This summer has been really weird for me. I've been super busy the entire time. I'm either working or doing schoolwork. And when I am free, the few friends I have back home are usually busy at night, so I don't haven't been able to hang out that much. On the days I don't work, I do homework pretty much all day. When I get back from class, I go running. Then I do homework for about an hour. Then I watch I Love Lucy and Cheap Seats while working out. Then I do more homework until 5, when I watch Seinfeld. Then I do some more homework and I finally get to relax at night and watch a movie, sometimes while doing more homework. An exciting life I live. My weekends aren't much better. I still do homework on Saturday but not quite as much.

Basically the only thing that has been saving my summer is entertainment. Without a few of my favorite shows and movies, I'd have killed myself by now. But I wanted to extend myself beyond all the movies and shows I'm already interested in. IMDB ranks the top 250 movies of all time. Here is the list: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?tt0209144 I've already seen these ones: 1. The Godfather, 2. Shawshank Redemption, 5. Pulp Fiction, 6. Schindler's List, 8. The Empire Strikes Back, 10. Star Wars, 13. (I bolded the ones that are super awesome and that if you haven't seen you should watch before you do anything else.) That's over a fifth of them, which isn't saying much, but there are alot of old movies on there. I decided that I'm going to watch all of them. Here are the three that I've watched since I decided to do this.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SH6YXwC912I/AAAAAAAAADo/fAL8DHnT4FI/s320/one_flew_over_the_cuckoos_nest_ver1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223780151598110562" /> #7 - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest -I had heard of this movie and thought it looked like the weirdest thing ever. Then I watched it and it was super good. This is the movie that really put Jack Nicholson on the map, and although he kinda creeps me out sometimes, he does a great job in this movie. He plays a man who fakes insanity so he can go to an insane asylum because he'll probably spend less time there than he would in jail because he beat up a bunch of guys. While there, he discovers that it is going to more intolerable than he thought. He tries to help some of the patients in ways that the staff won't. There are some other notable actors in it: Christopher Lloyd and Danny De Vito. They play some really memorable characters in the movie, which is good because it is character driven. The movie was really funny as some parts, but it was actually a drama. It's not for everybody, but I personally enjoyed it. I give it 9/10.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SH6cOfDCEQI/AAAAAAAAADw/HCTgRTO-vak/s320/Reservoir-Dogs-DVD.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223784390462673154" />#65 - Reservoir Dogs - This is a Quentin Tarantino film and he is freaking brilliant. In this movie, eight guys team up for a jewel heist and none of them know each other's names. Instead they are known as Mr. White, Mr. Orange, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Pink, Mr. Blue, and Mr. Brown. The only names that are known are Joe Cabot, who is the mastermind of the operation, and his son Nice Guy Eddie Cabot. When the cops arrive during the operation in a very timely fashion and Mr. Orange is shot, Mr. Pink and Mr. White begin to suspect that there was a rat. They try to figure out who it is. That's when the movie begins and there are a couple of flashbacks that are used to fill in the plot holes and let you get to know the characters. Lots of recognizable faces, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Tierney, and Quentin Tarantino plays a character as well. Just to warn you, Mr. Blonde is a sick sick man. Psycho. But the movie was really really good. And has a crazy ending. 8.5/10.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SH6iJnBrPKI/AAAAAAAAAD4/wcsRYZViws0/s320/american+history+x.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223790903774887074" />#40 - American History X - I wasn't sure what to expect going into this movie. It's about Derek (Edward Norton) who is a respected neo-Nazi, well respected by other neo-Nazis, who kills some black guys and goes to jail for three years. While he was in jail, his younger brother begins to get involved with the neo-Nazis. He writes a history paper on Hitler's Mein Kampf, and as punishment is ordered to take a class with his black principal every day. Derek sees the light while he's in prison cleaning sheets with another black prisoner and when he gets out, he tries to save his brother from the stuff that ruined his life. It was alot better than I thought it was going to be. Only drawback is a really gross shower scene. 8/10.

Next up on the schedule is #14 Goodfellas, #24 Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (yest, that is the real title), and #34 Se7en. Hopefully, my plan will work and I'll get through the top 250.

iPHONE PANDEMONIUM

Bonus post.

So the new iPhone has come out, and people have been going crazy for it. Want proof? Here's a story. My good friend here in Toledo, Tyler Campbell, was camping out with some friends the other day, and some of hte people he was with were going to wait in line for the new iPhones that were coming out. He decided to wait with them even though he wasn't planning on purchasing one. The people at the store came out and said that there were only 20 iPhones available and there were many more people than that waiting in line. Tyler was standing in the 9 spot and thought, "maybe I could sell my spot in line to someone who actually wants one." He was thinking he'd get at least $50 but decided to start at $100 and go down from there if he needed to. Guess how much he got for his spot in line?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SHffJT0Hf2I/AAAAAAAAADg/1sGyKpTHDS0/s320/iphone_34.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221887643990064994" />

$1000.
IN CASH!!!

An LPGA pro had a 10:00 tee time at the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic and was in a rush and just really wanted the phone. Crazy. My friend said he wanted the world to know, so naturally, I put in on my blog.

He said that he'd pay for my ticket for when we go see "Mamma Mia" next week.
Just kidding. We're not going to see that movie.

GOODBYE OLD FRIEND

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SHfcK9zPoKI/AAAAAAAAADQ/x52z-M0Cjds/s320/bilde.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221884373905678498" />
So the destruction of Tiger Stadium is under way. I hate it. There were talks about the stadium to be converted into some sort of baseball museum, which would have been awesome, and I even heard that they were going to put a restaurant in the stands and have a patio overlooking the field along with some shops to fill out through the rest of the stadium, which would have been cool also. But, it wasn't to be. Nobody would commit to anything and the city was sick of having the structure just sitting there, so it had to come down.

I don't know how the demolition crews have the heart to tear the thing down. I couldn't handle it. Tiger Stadium is the home of many memories, not only for me, but for almost every Tigers fan. It opened the same week as the sinking of of the Titanic, and the same day as Boston's Fenway Park, another historical stadium.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SHfcjqgYmtI/AAAAAAAAADY/-N5gbeUYLL4/s320/Tiger%2520Stadium-Final%2520Game%2520500.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221884798223030994" />It was home to alot of great ballplayers - Ty Cobb (my favorite Tiger), Sam Crawford, Charlie Gehringer, Hal Newhouser, Al Kaline, Mickey Lolich, Willie Horton, Norm Cash, Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Kirk Gibson, Jack Morris, Cecil Fielder (maybe he wasn't great, but he was cool) - just to name a few. There were alot of big moments - Reggie Jackson's roof clearing home run in the '72 All Star Game, Kirk Gibson's big home run in Game 5 of the '84 World Series, some no-hitters, etc. last game played there was on September 27, 1999 against the Kansas City Royals. It was an emotional game, with many of the Tiger greats coming back to honor the place that helped make them great players. Here's some video of the last home run in Tiger Stadium and the final pitch. I watched this the other day, and it was pretty heart wrenching.

Some of the stadium is going to be preserved - the foul poles, the flag pole in center field, some seats - but it's going to be weird not seeing it when I drive through Detroit. Comerica Park is a really nice new stadium, but when I compare it to Tiger Stadium, it's basically a crackhouse. It's where I saw my first games, where I got to meet some of the ballplayers during a camp, where I enjoyed time with my friends and family. I'm definitely going to miss it.

SEE YA LATER SHEED?

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SFMZw5bSIEI/AAAAAAAAACg/F8sFQzVGOZs/s320/sheed2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211537521637466178" />After falling in the Eastern Conference Finals for the third straight year, Joe Dumars decided to make some changes. He started at the top with the firing of head coach Flip Saunders, that was an expected move. However, at the press conference Joe shocked everyone saying that nobody was safe from the trading block. A team that has been together for 5 years, dating back to a trade that brought Sheed to the Motor City from Atlanta. How could he consider breaking up a team that has gone to 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals, something that only the Lakers teams of the 80s did? Well, although I might not like it, I do know that something has to change.

The player that has been swirling amongst most trade rumors is Rasheed Wallace. You either love him or you hate him. No player feels as much disdain when the team is struggling and gets more praise when they're thriving than Sheed. It mostly started with last years Game 6 loss to the Cavs in the ECF. Sheed got ejected late in the elimination game and Detroit fans were clamoring that he didn't care or that he's too mental and needs to be moved. In Game 5 against the Celtics of this years' ECF, Sheed got another technical (which most would say was undeserved, unless you're Jeff Van Gundy, which would make you an idiot but that's another comment for another day), and once again, everybody seems to want to see him go.

It's understandable. And if he's going to be moved, now's the time to do it. His contract is up after next year, which is attractive for most teams because it would free up cap space after the following season. A trade would be able to fetch some quality players or high draft picks for the Pistons. However, Sheed has been a valuable member of this team for the past 5 years and without him, we wouldn't have our NBA title. We wanted more than one, but that's just how it goes. I'll miss him if he leaves, for many reasons. I've narrowed it down to the five top reasons(if you haven't noticed, I really like to make lists) why I would miss Rasheed Wallace.

Honorable Mention: Bald Spot - This one just missed the cut, but it's one of his trademarks. You can spot his birthmark from miles away. Although it may seem odd to see a full head of hair and an island of skin in the midst of it, it's endearing. At least to me.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SFMapDrNyHI/AAAAAAAAACw/1FZKCDnegqQ/s320/sheed4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211538486461319282" />

5. Pregame - One of the highlights of going to a Pistons game is the pregame. Probably the best of any NBA team. You see the team huddled around swaying back and forth getting pumped for the contest. In the middle of it all, there's Rasheed Wallace, jumping, gyrating and pumping his fists, trying to get his team fired up. I get intense just thinking about it.

4. Technicals - As everyone should already know, the officiating in the NBA is horrendous. Probably the worst of any of the professional sports. With so many bad calls, complaints are going to happen, which will lead to technicals. Nobody is more renowned for this than Sheed. Although it contributes to his undeservedly bad reputation, nothing fires up a team more than a technical foul. Sheed often plays much better after he gets a technical and as Sheed goes, so do the Pistons. <img style="float:right; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SFMaXKEDcxI/AAAAAAAAACo/m8UTkKUn8q4/s320/nba_a_wallace2_395.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211538178938467090" />

3. Cats - Sheed refers to everyone as "cats." I think it's so cool that I'm starting to use it in my everyday talk. He recently had a great quote after his ridiculous technical in Game 5, one that earned him a $25,000 fine from the league: "All that bullshit-ass calls they had out there. With Mike (Callahan) and Kenny (Mauer) -- you've all seen that shit. You saw them calls. The cats are flopping all over the floor and they're calling that shit. That shit ain't basketball out there. It's all fuckin entertainment. You all should know that shit. It's all fuckin entertainment." Hah. Honesty. It's very refreshing coming from someone in a league that I personally believe is full of it.

2. Guaransheed - It's rare for a player to guarantee a victory against a team. Most times, it's not successful (that no-name safety on the Steelers who guaranteed a victory over the Patriots this past year)but there are a few occasions where it turns out for the best (Joe Namath guaranteeing a Super Bowl). During the 2004 NBA title run, Sheed guaranteed a victory over the Pacers in game 2: "They will not win game 2, and you heard it from me. Put it front page, back page, middle of the page. They will not win game 2." Wow. If you were wondering, the Pacers did not win game 2 :) I think the reason why I like it so much is because I would never have the balls to do something like that myself.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SFMcBIbYtpI/AAAAAAAAADI/V6TRC3d6Kco/s320/sheed3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211539999565592210" />
1. Versatility - This last one is actually a serious one. Sheed is one of the most versatile players in the NBA. He is best when he is playing the 4, but can effectively play the 5, and if you really need him to, the 3. All of this for a 6'11" guy. He can bang down low with the best of em and can knock down shot after shot from the perimeter. Not only is he an eruption of offense waiting to happen, but he's a force on the defensive end as well. Probably the most underrated facet of his game, Sheed can guard any big man in the league.

Well there you have it. I'll miss Sheed when he's gone, whether it's this summer or next, it won't be the same without him. But I trust that Joe D knows what he's doing. So stay tuned in to the Pistons offseason, something big is going to happen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SE2LYEA97LI/AAAAAAAAACA/ahBd9F4ZHvQ/s320/natalie-portman-5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5209973589448453298" />
June 9. School's out, the nice summer weather has finally arrived. It's the perfect time of the year. How fitting is it that the most perfect person was born on the most perfect day of the year? Coincidence? Most definitely not. God knows what he is doing. Today is my favorite day of the year. Not only is the weather always nice, but the it's my girl's birthday. Natalie Portman was born this very day 27 years ago. What a 27 years it's been. I've compiled a list of why Natalie Portman is the best person in the world.

10. Vegetarian - Although I am not a vegetarian, I do respect her for her beliefs. Ever since she saw a demonstration of laser surgery on a chicken at one of her dad's medical conferences, she has decided to stay away from meat. She holds firm to her convictions, which is one thing I love about her. She's also been voted "The World's Sexiest Vegetarian" by PETA, a vegetarian organization.

9. Bilingual - Natalie can speak four different languages: English, Hebrew, French, and Japanese. Holy crap. Most people can only speak one, and can speak a little bit of a second language. It is amazing that she has had time to master four languages with her busy schedule.

8. Movies - She is best known for her acting, which is expected. She was in my favorite movie of all time, V for Vendetta. Great movie, if you haven't seen it, you should. Right now. Once you finish reading this blog post, forget about whatever you were going to do next and watch the movie. That's not her only great movie: Leon: The Professional, Garden State, the Star Wars prequels, Anywhere But Here, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, The Other Boleyn Girl. Those are just a couple, and they are all quite good. What can I say, her work speaks for itself, she's very talented.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SE2LKFBHRII/AAAAAAAAAB4/opnVzEslMXY/s320/abrahams1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5209973349199332482" />

7. Shoes - Natalie has her own line of shoes available for purchase. And before you become skeptical and think that she killed animals to produce them, forget about it. They're vegan shoes. If you would like to view or purchase them, check out this link: http://www.tecasan.com/Content.aspx?Page=Designer_info&Designer=natalie
They're expensive, but hey, the proceeds go to charity. How cool is that?

6. SNL - As you could probably already tell, Natalie is a very diverse individual. Heck, she even raps!: http://youtube.com/watch?v=mGwWEXME0EE
Hi-larious. But she quite good, if you want my opinion.

5. Jew - Hey, what do ya know? She's Jewish. She was born in Jerusalem in 1981 and although she may not practice the Jewish faith all the time, she is still a Jewess. But Portman doesn't sound Jewish, right? Correct, but her original last name was "Herschlag." Which is Jewish. She changed her name because she was afraid that if her career failed, it would bring shame upon the family name. Very considerate. Mazel Tov Natalie, Mazel Tov.
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SE2LtAHJNPI/AAAAAAAAACI/vYEtMVKQEyc/s320/Picture+4_0.preview.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5209973949177869554" />
4. Intelligence - Natalie is a Harvard graduate, with a degree in Psychology. Seriously? How did she have enough time to get a degree from an Ivy League school while acting and doing everything else that she does? Beats me. But you should stop trying to question her and just accept her as perfection. It's alot easier.

3. Charity - Natalie is really concerned about poverty in this world. Which is why she is deeply involved in charity work. She is a big supporter of FINCA, which is an organization that helps women in third world countries start and operate businesses. To help fund some of the work she compiled an album and the proceeds went to the organization. It's actually how she met her current boyfriend, Devendra Banhart.

2. Interests - So with all these accomplishments, you might think that she is one of those stuck up high society types. WRONG! She's just like you and me (except perfect). She loves to read, watch TV and movies, listen to music, all that good stuff. You'd be surprised at some of the things she loves. Likes chocolate, Jolly Ranchers, pizza, playing football, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Schindler's List, Friends, the list goes on and on. She's a really cool person.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SE2L-Lzl1CI/AAAAAAAAACQ/dtHYszgaCJ8/s320/natalie-portman-harpers-bazaar-03.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5209974244374860834" />
1. Beauty - You had to see this one coming. She is the most gorgeous woman in the world. I don't know what I'm going to do if I ever get married, cuz I can't tell my wife she's the most beautiful lady I've ever seen, cuz I'm certainly not going to lie. Honesty is really important in marriages. Anywho, just look at pictures of her. You will never find a more perfect face, form, whatever. I believe God modeled the angels after her. I'm not even going to try to explain how beautiful she is, because no matter what I say, will not do her justice.

Well, to close this blog, I included a picture of my three favorite Natalie possessions: V for Vendetta, a Star Wars poster calendar, and a Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium lollipop.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SE2NWVnY2gI/AAAAAAAAACY/r-dVQ5Wxurw/s320/Photo+33.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5209975758836521474" />

Well, I'm off to my annual Natalie Portman movie marathon!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They inspired me to make my own list, cuz they're very influential people. My list only consists of 60 though. Cuz I'm only one person. They are two.

60. It's the player that checks in when the game is already in the bag and there's no way he can screw it up. Most of these players are young developmental prospects who haven't been able to hone their skills enough to compete against the NBA regulars. That's not the case for the Detroit Pistons. They're arguably the deepest team in the NBA, and the players that sit at the end of the bench for them would be getting regular minutes on most teams. Their "human victory cigar" is none other than THE Walter Hermann. But Walter isn't some scrub that comes in for garbage minutes. He brings some things that many other players don't: intensity, hustle, and entertainment.

Just this past weekend against the Magic, he had a busy night despite playing less than a quarter. He was playing some stellar defense, nearly saved a ball out of bounds that wouldn't have had any bearing on the outcome of the game, and got in a verbal scuffle with Pat Garrity. Don't worry, Walter's got everybody's back. There was one play where Walter caught it on the wing, beat his man, got double teamed, kicked it out up top to Rodney Stuckey who fed it down low to Jason Maxiell for the easy flush. Walter won't get any statistical credit for that play, but the highlight was made possible all because of him.

Now I looked at the official Detroit Pistons store, trying to find a Walter Hermann jersey. They didn't have one listed. It's probably because he's so good that his jersey is in such high demand that they're always running out of them, right? It's probably true.

The NBA wants to spread their popularity across the world, so they've emphasized foreign scouting to bring in players from all across the globe. One of those players brought in was Walter Hermann, nobody has had a bigger impact in internationalizing the game. Forget Yao Ming, Dirk Nowiztki, and Tony Parker. Walter has helped Argentina become one of the best basketball countries in the world. Check out this video from when he played in Argentina: http://youtube.com/watch?v=saYVKxLsJes&feature=related

Ok. So maybe Walter Hermann isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread. But he's on the Pistons, so I have to love him or I wouldn't be a true fan. Plus, he looks kinda like Fabio.>>>
And any man who can pull of the most amazing dunk of all time is okay in my book. Seriously, watch: http://youtube.com/watch?v=cVgfx6VtFHo&feature=related

I know. The list included Celine Dion, John Mayer, James Blunt and others, but standing at #1 was Michael Bolton. Honestly, Michael Bolton is awesome. I decided to defend him by making a list of the Top 5 reasons why Michael Bolton rocks.

5. The Hair<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SA4ouaxbUNI/AAAAAAAAAA0/qTN5s4OLoeM/s320/115294_f_1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192132198330486994" />I know he doesn't have the long luscious locks anymore, but that's because of age. When he was in his prime, every man wished they could have hair like Michael. I mean just look at it. What woman wouldn't want to run their hands through that? I wonder what shampoo and conditioner he uses........

4. The Pants
How many of us could ever pull off the leather pants look? Only a select few have that God given gift, and Michael is one of them. The sleek and sexy pants are something that everybody wishes they could wear, but most must admire it on somebody else.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/SA4ryqxbUOI/AAAAAAAAAA8/OCIKCoICiBQ/s320/music.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192135569879814370" />
3. The Voice
I have a pretty diverse taste in music, but one thing I can always appreciate is good vocals. Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Wonder - all guys with tremendous talent, right? Michael belongs in the same sentence as them. Not even a question. Kenny G. , the popular saxophonist, liked Michael's voice so good, he did a couple collaborative songs with him. When you get props from other greats in the music biz, you know you're good.

2. The Question
In my favorite Michael Bolton song of all time (watch the video below), he raises a good question: "How Can We Be Lovers" (the title of the song) if we can't be friends? Whether it be a marriage, an affair, or just a booty call, friendships must be maintained if you wanna keep the good thing you've got going. Words of wisdom Michael, words of wisdom.

1. The Tribute
The first time I really was able to appreciate Michael Bolton was when NBC aired "The Michael Bolton Tribute On Ice" in 2006. What an event. That is where I first heard my favorite Michael Bolton song. It featured skating greats such as Scott Hamilton and Shae-Lynn Bourne, to name a few, skating to live performances by Michael. I believe the proceeds went to charity.

So here's the rundown: Michael Bolton is cool because of his hair, his pants, his voice, his question, and his tribute. I'd like to see anybody argue with those. Because they would fail, and fail miserably. Feel free to add the reasons why you love Michael Bolton.

PRIME TIME

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/R_rAlEIYk_I/AAAAAAAAAAM/P3Qm8b60SnE/s320/sanders_deion.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5186669663867147250" />
So I have known about Deion Sanders' hit song "Must Be The Money" for quite a while, but I never heard any of his other songs. Out of curiosity, I looked up his CD "Prime Time" on Amazon.com. Turns out it only cost $1.48 (what a deal!!). I couldn't help myself, so I purchased it and the glorious day of its arrival was April 7, 2008, a day I will remember for the rest of my life. Here is a song by song analysis of the CD.

1. Time for Prime (Intro) - A basic little beat that really sets the mood for the expected greatness to come.

2. Prime Time Keeps On Ticking - Deion could've gotten sued for parts of this song. At times, it sounds eerily similar to "Fly Like an Eagle" by Steve Miller Band.
Favorite Lyrics: "Pulled out my rolex to check the time, damn I'm late, called a limo so I could get to the stadium. Michael Irvin calls, so we must be playing, I gotta go, I gotta go, no time to change cuz it's an everyday thang."
Deion, you really don't know when your games are? You have to have Michael Irvin call you to remind you? You could've at least picked someone more responsible like Troy Aikman.

3. Y U NV Me?- At first it sounds like a Barry White song. Basically because of the music. A guy speaks and says that they have an interview with the controversial Deion Sanders. You can tell this is going to be good.
Favorite Lyrics: "Inquiring minds wanna know about the All-Pro, so they go up and ax me 'Why am I so flashy?' They see I got an ego, but it ain't easy to be me so I chill with my homies from El Dio. They know that I'm real, I'm Deion on the streets but I'm Prime Time on the field. So say hi to the bad guy."
Wow. Where exacly is "El Dio"? I looked it up but I didn't find anything useful. This song really makes me ask why people really do envy you Deion. You're not talented when it comes to music, so stick to the field.

4. Must Be The Money - This is a hit. You can't help but love this song. Probably the catchiest song on the album (which is hardly an accomplishment).
Favorite Lyrics: "The first thing people say is 'Prime, don't let money change you, don't let money change you' I say 'hey, don't let money change you, cuz personally it's gonna change my address, my phone number, my wardrobe, hey my snakeskin shoes gonna change into gators, hey my libary (that is not a misspelling, that's how he said it) card gonna change into credit cards. Ya know what I'm saying'"
No Deion, we don't know what you're saying. We haven't the slightest idea. And library cards don't change into credit cards. They're for completely different purposes. What was your GPA at Florida St.? The good thing about this song is that it includes a music video. You get to see what Deion is all about. LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyNMz_LxEoA

5. It's All Real - Psychedelic. It's all about his hometown - Fort Myers, Florida. Deion reflects on his childhood and how he's always been good at sports (and chess apparently).
Favorite Lyrics: "I always played ball, wasn't hangin on the streets. Never been a dope dealer, gang banger or a thief. I'm just a playa foo, it's all real. We could play a game of chess or hit the football field."
For some reason I doubt you were good at chess Deion. You're also pretty hypocritical. You say you've never been a street thug but you've always been hardcore? Make up your mind. <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/R_vVO0IYlBI/AAAAAAAAAAc/tRZJo47N1Fw/s320/1122054399_9846.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5186973846335951890" />

6. 2 B Me - Deion asks himself what it's like to be Deion. "There's a big difference between you and me." You're right for once. You think you're good at rap, but you're not. We know you're bad at rap.
Favorite Lyrics: "Me, myself, and I. Me plays football, myself plays baseball, and I rhyme. Number 24 minus number 21 equals three individuals divided into one."
First point, you can't rhyme. You're terrible at it. Secondly, Are you comparing yourself to the Trinity?

7. Say Hi to the Bad Guy - I don't know what the intro voice is supposed to be. It sounds like the ghetto version of Alvin and the Chipmunks, yet digitized.
Favorite Lyrics: "Inquiring minds wanna know about the All-Pro. Ripping baseballs and footballs, I'm rough." "I hit like the mafia."
7 tracks in and he's recycling lyrics. Good sign. Isn't the mafia pretty subtle about how they conduct business? Deion, you're everything but subtle.

8. We Can Roll - Nobody knows what this song is about. I'm guessing it's about rolling down the streets in his drop top Benz?
Favorite Lyrics : We can roll yo, we can stroll yo. We can roll on the striggy striggy stro ya. Where the women got booties and the fellas got rats. What's your name? 'Deion' AKA Prime."
I don't even know what's going on. Since he made up words like "striggy striggy stro," I'm not even going to waste my time.

9. House of Prime - The self-built Deion empire. I really don't know what he's getting at, but it reminds me of the nursery story about the three bigs and the big bad wolf.
Favorite Lyrics: "Who am I? I'm Mr. D'eion Sanders the Sandman'" "I know you hear me comin, tippy toe, tippy toe. So, Mr. Prime Time is the big bad wolf when I take a deep breath and 'Huff and puff baby, blow the house down, huff and puff baby, blow the house down, huff and puff baby' This is the House of Prime and only I can bring it down."
Maybe he was trying to attract an adolescent audience with his references to a children's story? Whatever, yet another attempt to be hardcore that fell short. Also, "Sandman"? Why does your number of nicknames grow throughout this album?

10. It Ain't Over Yet - Despite whatever pleas you have that this album end. It ain't over yet. This is only the beginning.
Favorite Lyrics: "As i look, the crowd is pathetic, the bleachers get empty, the people start to exit. But the referee hasnt shot the gun yet, the fat lady ain't sung yet, and Mr. Prime ain't done yet. Come back and take your coats off. Watch the fireworks, Prime Time about to go off."
If this were a concert, people would have left at the very beginning. This track needs to be bumped up if Deion is expecting to keep the fans in the seats. I wish it were over, but Prime ain't done yet. Unfortunately. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/R_vckEIYlCI/AAAAAAAAAAk/tGglCmzA1OQ/s320/medium_deion.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5186981907989566498" />

11. Movin - The sad thing about this song is that I kinda like it. But that's only when Deion isn't singing.
Favorite Lyrics: "Why do you envy the infamous 'Mr.Prime Time'? Spike Lee dissin the Prime was ridiculous. 'Why?' For one you never met me. But now you're on the TV screen trying to check me. Two, you tryin to make me look LOW, claiming pro black, but this one a white man show."
Prime, why are you using your song to speak out against those who bashed you? They're not going to get the message because NOBODY LISTENS TO YOUR ALBUM!!!!!

12. Hiedy Hiedy Hey - I don't understand the beginning of the song. Deion has a really creepy laugh.
Favorite Lyrics: "Mr. Prime Time 'that's me' I know you wanna go 'wanna go' Wanna kick a funky rhyme? ' funky rhyme' Yo, won't you flow through the stereo. "
Deion sounds like he is high when he sings this song. and nobody says "hiedy hiedy hey" when they see you. That's just dumb.

13. Papa San - This song is dedicated to his late father. I will not mock him for this. I don't trash talk like that. I'm clean.

14. Sum'n About That Woman - This might be the best song on the album. Just because Deion doesn't start singing until 52 seconds in. What a relief.
Favorite Lyrics: "Sum'n bout that woman makes me see ya slow mo doggin."
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

15. It's On - This is a song for his boys in Fort Myers so that they can jam to it. It's actually a kinda catchy beat.
Favorite Lyrics: "Check that back, you got it going out. Lookin like that I wanna take you home. To my dump with the big jacuzzi checkin out the ladies with the big fat booties."
In the previous song, he was talking about respecting women. Now he has sexually explicit lyrics. Yes. There are actually alot of great lyrics in this song, but it's too much. I can't handle it Deion.

16. Time for Prime (reprise) The end. I got no more time for you Prime.

Alright, so Deion isn't the greatest rapper. So what? He's fresh and cool. I give him a hard time, but in reality, we all wish we were famous enough to make a killer album. I'll remember Deion more for this:

than I will for this:

His dance moves seemed alot cooler on the football field. But here's to you, Deion, the guardian of the gridiron, the dominator of the diamond, and the boss of the beat. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DIBnWJXGqRg/R_-ELHcbUPI/AAAAAAAAAAs/WOr0hzMeqxY/s320/sanders_deion1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188010622265807090" />

Analysis of the 2008 Michigan Recruiting Class

Michigan had a very strong recruiting year, which is surprising considering the coaching change. They signed 23 recruits this year, with players at every position.

5 RECRUITS WHO WILL HAVE AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT

1. CB Boubacar Cissoko - Although short in stature, there isn't a better cover corner around. He's got long arms and quick feet. He has a big vertical and can surprisingly cover bigger receivers. During the Army All American Bowl practices, he shut down the East receivers all week despite being shorter for several inches. Michigan has Morgan Trent on one side and Donovan Warren on the other, but Boo Boo is probably going to be their third best corner next year and will see plenty of playing time.

2. OT Dann O'Neill - This guy is huge. Standing at 6'8", he's a foot taller than Boubacar. He's already a great run blocker and reminds some of former Michigan tackles Jake Long and Jon Jansen. He needs to work on his footwork but already has tremendous balance and drive. He may not win the starting left tackle spot, but he's going to get a significant amount of playing time.

3. WR Darryl Stonum - Reminds some of Ted Ginn, but this guy is a more polished receiver. He's a tall target at 6'2" but runs a 4.4 40 yard dash. He's very dangerous in the open field and can outrun most opponents. Michigan lost Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington to the NFL, so there are going to be spots at the receiver position open. He has already enrolled at Michigan and will participate during spring practices. This will give him a leg up on the rest of the receivers Michigan signed because they won't be in camp until August.

4. LB J.B. Fitzgerald - Michigan plucked this stud linebacker out of New Jersey, a place where they hadn't had much success lately. He's got a big frame and is physically ready (6"4" 225 lbs.)for the college game. Michigan has depth problems at linebacker and he may challenge for a starting spot this fall. Some have said that he may shift to defensive end, and he has the frame to bulk up. Either way J.B. is going to be seeing the field very soon in Ann Arbor.

5. QB Justin Feagin - He became a target for Michigan very late in the process. Most consider him to be an athlete, but the Wolverines want him at the quarterback position to fill the need for a dual threat quarterback at Michigan. He's lightning quick and shows good moves in the open field. He is somewhat similar to Pat White at West Virginia and has the same type of build. He may not win the starting quarterback job but he will definitely split time with Steven Threet at QB. If he doesn't work out at quarterback he has the versatility to move to slot receiver or safety in the future.

3 RECRUITS WHO WILL REDSHIRT BUT WILL DEVELOP INTO STARTERS

1. OL Elliot Mealer - If it weren't for a sever shoulder injury during a December car crash that took the lives of his father and girlfriend, Elliot might have been in the Immediate Impact category. He played tight end in high school but this kid is destined for the offensive line. He's very mobile and will fit into the new spread scheme that Rich Rodriguez will have in place. He might not be healthy enough to play this fall but he will eventually be a starter for the Maize and Blue.

2. TE Brandon Moore - The kid has huge hands and is going to be a dangerous red zone threat throughout his career. His only concern is his blocking. He hasn't developed that part of his game yet because his high school team lined him up at receiver, but blocking is going to be a huge part of his game. He may not redshirt but he isn't going to make any significant contributions until later in his career, luckily Michigan has the depth at tight end to wait for him.

3. OT Patrick Omemah - He became a Michigan target very late in the process but this kid has tons of potential. He is going to need some time to add some strength so that he can block in the Big 10. He's very fast for an offensive lineman and could be an excellent pulling guard in RR's offense. He has lots of potential and hopefully he will reach that after some time developing his body.

1 SLEEPER RECRUIT

DB J.T. Floyd - Originally a Tennessee commit, the previous Michigan staff targeted him and RR picked up where they left off. After being committed to Volunteers for a while, J.T. opened up his recruitment again and began to entertain offers from other schools. One school that stayed with him for a while was Michigan. He's a hybrid defensive back who could play cornerback or safety. He wasn't highly touted by the recruiting services but he was a heavily contested recruit. He may get some early playing time and the staff obviously thinks he's valuable with how hard they were recruiting him.

Thank Lloyd for the Great Recruiting Class

Say what you want about Lloyd Carr as a head coach, but you have to admire him. He left this program in phenomenal shape with talent at all key positions. There's more talent on the way with a top 10 recruiting class coming to Ann Arbor next year. Most of it consists of players he recruited and sticked with their commitments despite Coach Carr and his staff's departure. When a coaching change takes place, you can expect a large number of de-commitments and a sub-par recruiting class. When Tyrone Willingham was fired, Charlie Weis took over but could only muster a recruiting class ranked #40 according to Rivals.com. Since then, Coach Weis has more than proved his recruiting prowess with three consecutive classes ranked in the top 10 nationally, so his first class must have had something to do with the coaching change. Let's look at a more recent example. Bill Callahan was on the hot seat at the beginning of the season, but was heading towards a great class this year. the Cornhuskers finished with a less than stellar season and couldn't even make it to a bowl game, a sad end for a team as rich in tradition as Nebraska. The school fired Callahan, but they lost highly touted prospects in QB Blaine Gabbert, OL Trevor Robinson, RB Jonas Gray, and WR DJ Woods. Bo Pelini came in a saved face for now but with those prospects the Cornhuskers would have finished with a top 25 class. There are other examples of this every year, but I won't go into detail about them.
Now to say that Michigan didn't suffer any losses due to the coaching change would be erroneous. QB John Weinke decommitted even before Rich Rodriguez was hired and probably would've anyway considering the drastic differences in offensive philosophy between Rich and Lloyd. HB/LB Christian Wilson didn't exactly see eye-to-eye on what Rich wanted to do on offense so he decommited also. Michigan even lost current player Ryan Mallett, who was supposed to be the quarterback of the future because of the change in offensive scheme. But overall Lloyd had 16 verbal commitments when he announced his retirement and 14 of which remained faithful to their initial commitments. The two that decided to look elsewhere didn't fit the scheme that RR wanted to put in place and were not big losses.
Why did these players still decide to attend the University of Michigan? You can give a great deal of credit to RR and his staff who re-recruited these players. There was only one holdover from the previous staff, RB coach Fred Jackson, so most of these players had to establish new relationships within a month and a half in order to determine if Ann Arbor was still the place for them. RR did a fantastic job of keeping in contact with them and selling the new system to the recruits.
But the main reason that I think these players stuck to their verbal commitments and signed their letter or intent to the University of Michigan is Lloyd Carr. He sold the Michigan name, not his record as a head coach, not the system, not his assistants, but the school and its tradition in both academics and athletics. He left the program in better shape than it was when he inherited it, and that was one of his goals for when he retired. There have been few coaches like him in the past and there will probably not be another ever again because of the monster that college football has become. He is a humble man, who stays outside the spotlight, giving credit for victories to his players and coaches and taking the blame for losses. He never made an excuse but rather accepted things for what they were. Lloyd knew the importance of academics, that they are a higher priority than what transpires on the football field. He wants all his players, even those who leave school early for the NFL, to earn their degrees before their lives are over. He is the reason that these players are coming to the University of Michigan. Because this selfless man showed them what was important. You will never hear any players talk about their coaches like former Michigan players talk about Coach Carr. There is not one who doesn't appreciate what Lloyd Carr did for them. That is why when the recruiting class of 2008 graduates after four or five years, I'm not going to think of how successful they were under RR, which they most definitely will be, but instead I will think of Coach Carr and what he stands for and what he did during his time here at what he called "the greatest of places." So when you revel in a victory for the winged helmets on a Saturday, make sure you thank Lloyd because he is the one who deserves all the credit.

Coaching Search puts Sports in Perspective

The Michigan football program is arguably the most tradition rich program in the nation. 11 National Titles, 42 Big 10 Championships, All-Americans, Alumni in the NFL, great coaches, great players - all these show that it should be one of the most coveted job in the world. Then why can't the university find a new head football coach? Some blame the athletic director, Bill Martin, others the school president Mary Sue Coleman, while some - even though he has retired - blame Lloyd Carr for butting into the process. I don't share the same opinion as any of these viewpoints. I blame myself and all the other crazy fans who think that football is the most important thing in their life.

Football rules America. Much like baseball once did, but it is different for football. Teams only play once a week, so a loss lingers until the next victory, which is at least seven days away. In other sports, the turnaround is much quicker, with teams having an opportunity to win within the next few days. The effects of a loss are not only felt by the players but also by the fans. I know that when Michigan loses, it puts me in a bad mood for the rest of the day, and if the Lions lose that Sunday, well I'm bound to be sour for the entire week.

The saga that has become the Michigan coaching search, has helped put football into perspective. I'm sick of Les Miles saying that he loves his alma mater, only to say that he's happy at LSU. I'm fed up with coaches like Greg Schiano using the Michigan vacancy as a way to remind their current employer's that they're very valuable. Rich Rodriguez is currently doing the same thing. It just shows that the football world is full of liars, swindlers, and jerks just like the real world. People may think I'm crazy, but I'm going to miss Lloyd Carr. Sure, he wasn't winning like people expected him to, but let's face it, he had higher expectations than any other coach in the country. But you know what? He had integrity, he is different from any other coach in the business. The way his former players talk about him shows that. He followed the rules and still succeeded, which shows that good guys can finish first. But alas, there will be no other like him. The man Michigan hires will never be the person Coach Carr was. Still, whoever bill Martin hires, there will still be those who are unhappy. This tells me that we take this game too seriously. Fans should be more concerned with their families, their jobs and other parts of life that have an actual significant effect on their lives. A game that you're not participating is doesn't have that effect.

I'm guilty of this just as much as anybody else, but I think I've come to the realization that football isn't really that important. I'm sure that whoever Michigan signs as their next head coach will be just as successful as the last. I'm tired of spending every waking moment of the day looking for updates on who the next candidate is only to be disappointed that they were using the vacancy to their own advantage and making the school look like fools. I'm ready to actual look to other things and focus my energy there. The outcome of this search will have no direct effect on my life and how I live it. It isn't the most important thing in my life.

Wait, who am I kidding? This is MICHIGAN football. It affects everyone.

Wolverines Come Back to Beat State!!

Watching Chad Henne play with a reinjured knee was very impressive to me. That was one of the great games in Michigan history, which motivated me to make this post of my top 5 Michigan games that occurred during my lifetime.

5. Michigan 38, Minnesota 35 (2003)

I remember shaking my head in disgust as the Golden Gophers torched our defense on the ground. It was one of those points in the season that was make or break. Michigan had just come off losses to Oregon and Iowa and their Big 10 Title hopes were on the line. Michigan came back from a 21 point deficit. This was one of the few moments that John Navarre wasn't being harrassed by the Michigan faithful as he led the team down the field to tie it up. Garrett Rivas hit a field goal with less than a minute remaining for the victory. A great comeback in the history of college football.

4. Michigan 45, Michigan State 37 (2004)

Touchdown Braylon Edwards. Touchdown Braylon Edwards. Touchdown Braylong Edwards. Probably one of the greatest games in this historic rivalry. Drew Stanton was ripping it up on the field for the Spartans before he got injured, but that's a risk you have to take when you have a reckless player like Stanton. The Wolverines just seemed out of it after three quarters, but Chad Henne lofted two TD passes to Edwards to tie the game and send it into overtime. During the first overtime, Michigan was forced to kick a field goal and the Michigan defense held State to do the same. Second overtime featured a very nice fade pass to Jason Avant as Braylon was double covered on the opposite side. Michian opened the third overtime with a slant to Braylon Edwards as he waltzed in for his third score. Michigan stopped State on four plays to win the game. An exhilerating finish in the Big House

3. Ohio State 42, Michigan 39 (2006)

Even though Michigan lost this game, it was still one of the greatest games in the history of college football. It lost some of its luster when Michigan and Ohio State got trashed in their bowl games but you couldn't ask for a bigger regular season stage. Two defenses that dominated during the regular season were lit up by dynamic offenses. #1 vs. #2 lived up to its expectations and was truly one of the greatest games in the history of the game. Game of the Century - enough said.

2. Michigan 27, Penn State 25 (2005)

This season was not going the way the Wolverines planned. Penn State was undefeated and on their way to a dream season. Michigan took the lead, it switched back and forth a couple times and Penn State held the lead with less than a minute to go. They had a problem: They decided to kick to Steve Breaston. He had a long return that set up the final scoring drive. With Michigan at the 7-yard line and one second remaining, Chad Henne dropped back to pass and fired the ball to freshman phenom, Mario Manningham. A thrilling last second victory in a season that was otherwise unspactacular.

1. Michigan 20, Ohio State 14 (1997)

I was only 8 years old at the time but the game still resonated magnificance to me. The Michigan defense was dominate and Charles Woodson proved he was the most dynamic player in the country with an interception and touchdown on a punt return. Marcus Ray's hit on David Boston that sent him flat on his back as a thing of beauty, showing the cocky reciever that the team was never going to let up. The defense was just unbeatable in this contest and showed the nation that the Wolverines were for real. It sent the team to the Rose Bowl and on its way to a share of the National Championship. I still remember the team after the game chanting : It's Great to Be a Michigan Wolverine!! It's Great to Be a Michigan Wolverine!!! A statement that is oh so true.

BIG EAST

Cincinnati
What we know: The offensive line will be much better than last year. It returns three quality starters and with the new spread scheme of coach Brian Kelly, they won't have to protect the quarterback as long. The running game should compliment the passing game well with top back Greg Moore.
What we don't know: Who plays QB? Wake Forest transfer Ben Mauck has been named the starter, don't be shocked if last year's starter Dustin Grutza challenges him. He has more chemistry with the receivers, having started the past two years.
Connecticut
What we know: The Huskies have a good RB in sophomore Donald Brown. He racked up good stats as a freshman and don't expect him to slow down because the offense is really going to depend on him this year. The team also returns two starting LBs and both CBs so the defense seems in good shape if it can stop the run better than last year.
What we don't know: Can they move the ball in the air? Uconn got barely any help from the QB position last year which is why Coach Edsall brought in JC QB Tyler Lorenzen, a big left-handed thrower with a strong arm.
Louisville
What we know: The offense will be exciting and efficient despite a new coach. QB Brian Brohm is the most talented QB in the nation and he's got two great targets in WRs Harry Douglas and Mario Urrutia. The Cardinals should have enough running game for other teams to respect.
What we don't know: Can they replace the players lost on defense? Out goes DE Omobi Akoye, DB William Gay, and LB Nate Harris. In comes the top JC player in the nation- CB Woody Turenne, LB Willie Williams, and DE Peanut Whitehead. The new starters will be talented but the players lost were pro-level talents.
Pittsburgh
What we know: The offense should be spectacular with two superb RBs in Larod-Stephens Howling and true freshman LeSean McCoy, a one time Miami (FL) commit. Bill Stull should do a decent job replacing Tyler Palko at QB and he'll have a dynamic receiver to throw to in Derek Kinder.
What we don't know: How will they deal with the loss of their defensive leader HB Blades? He was one of the most underrated players in America throughout his career and he'll be sorely missed by a defense that will be reeling after their late season collapse.
Rutgers
What we know: The Scarlet Knights are no fluke, they're here to stay. They'll be led by one of the nations best running games. RB Ray Rice and massive OTs Jeffrey Zuttah and Pedro Sosa are all-leagure performers and will make life easy for the rest of the offense.
What we don't know: Can the passing game be a factor? QB Mike Teel needs to be more consistent to take pressure off Rice and the running game. WR Kenny Britt emerged late last season and this spring and is a big target. If they can get the passing game going---watch out, they're rank up with Louisville and West Virginia in terms of offense.
South Florida
What we know: QB Matt Grothe is the real deal. He's got a strong arm and is a savvy leader. He'll be assisted by true freshman RB Mike Ford, who could've played for a bigger program had it not been for qualification problems. The defense is one of the best in the Big East with most of the starters returning and loads of experience.
What we don't know: Are they ready to join Louisville, Rutgers, and West Virginia as an elite team? Not quite yet, I would give it another year. The offense and defense are good enough to beat the previously mentioned teams but I don't think they're ready to win the conference.
Syracuse
What we know: The Orange will be better equipped to run Head Coach Greg Robinson's strategy. The previous seasons he was mostly using players from the old regime who, quite frankly, weren't good options for Robinson. The record may not show it, but the team will be better.
What we don't know: Will Robinson be given more time? He came in and the team was in bad shape. It still is, but I believe he should be given at least two more seasons to show some improvement. With a tough schedule, it probably won't show this year.
West Virginia
What we know: The Mountainneers may have the nations most explosive offense. They're one of the fastest teams in the country at every skill position, with their quarterback faster than some team's receivers. The only way they're stopped is if Slaton fumbles like he did against Louisville or Pat White throws picks. Neither is expected to happen very often.
What we don't know: Is the defense good enough to challenge for a national title? The offense can score. But so can Louisville, USC, Michigan, Texas and a handful of other teams. The difference between those teams and the Mountainneers is that they've proven they can field a capable defense. If West Virginia is to live up to the national title aspirations, they'll need to play better defense.

Offensive Player of the Year
QB Brian Brohm, Louisville
He'll be the first quarterback taken in next year's draft and he'll show why. He's a good game manager who can make every throw on the field and has the weapons to do it. If he can perform well in the big games, he could win the Heisman too.
Defensive Player of the Year
CB Trae Williams, South Florida
He's not very well known throughout the country but he'll have the opportunity to shut down some elite receivers in the conference. He's got the talent and experience to do it.
Impact Newcomer
RB Mike Ford, South Florida
This five star recruit will earn a starting spot in the backfield almost immediately. He's got a good size and speed combination and will take some pressure off of QB Matt Grothe.

Projected Finish
1. Louisville
2. Rutgers
3. West Virginia
4. Pittsburgh
5. South Florida
6. Cincinnati
7. Connecticut
8. Syracuse

Conference Champion: Louisville
They've got the best combination of offense and defense in the conference. They might not be able to run the table, but I think they have the overal edge in the conference. They get Rutgers at home but have to travel to Morgantown.

SEC

East Division

Florida
What we know: The Gators will not have a drop off in production on offense. In fact they might be even better because QB Tim Tebow is a much better fit for Urban Meyer's offense than Chris Leak was. Do-it-all Percy Harvin leads a group of playmakers who are among the most electric in the nation.
What we don't know: Will they be able to replace almost their entire defense? The talent is there but not the experience. The D will be led by junior DE Derrick Harvey who was last years BCS Title Game MVP against Ohio St. I wouldn't expect a big drop off but they won't be as good as last year.
Georgia
What we know: QB Matthew Stafford has the talent and the tools around him to succeed. He returns two solid RBs and experience at WR. He won't make the same rookie mistakes as last year. The schedule is in the Bulldogs favor this year with most of the tough games at home.
What we don't know: Will the offensive line be able to replace four starters? This is the key to Stafford playing up to his immense potential. If the line gives him time, he'll be just fine.
Kentucky
What we know: QB Andre Woodson is the real deal . He's being projected as a first round pick in next year's draft and based on last year, these projections are justified. He's got a great arm but is also extremely efficient and intelligent based on his low interception total.
What we don't know: Will they stop anybody? The offense will put up enough points to win for most teams, but the Wildcats defense is horrendous. They have some young talent but it probably won't be enough to help the team win the division. With explosive offenses like Louisville, Florida, and LSU on the schedule, the D must learn how to stop somebody quickly.
South Carolina
What we know: The offense will put up points. Steve Spurrier has an experienced QB and RB to help lead the offense. If the line plays solid as expected the Gamecocks will score enough to win most games. The defense is not always mentioned among the SEC's best but it should be. It's almost a bend but don't break defense. They'll give up some big plays because they're so aggressive but they'll come through when needed.
What we don't know: Who will replace Sidney Rice? He was the school's all-time leading receiver and he only played two seasons. The odds on favorite to step up is junior Kenny McKinley. He doesn't have to become the playmaker Rice was, just a consistent receiver that Blake Mitchell can depend on.
Tennessee
What we know: The running game will solid with two top backs returning in the form of Arian Foster and LaMarcus Coker. They'll run behind a competent line who'll also be protecting huge QB Erik Ainge. Expect him to improve even more in his second season under offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe.
What we don't know: Who will catch the ball and who will stop the pass? The Volunteers lost three good receivers in Robert Meachum, Jayson Swain, and Bret Smith. That's alot of production gone and they'll need the young guys to step up. Fulmer tried to bring in immediate help in JC WR Kenny O'Neal. While the pass game of the Vols might be in trouble the pass defense situation is far worse. They might have to depend on true freshman CB Eric Berry to start immediately.
Vanderbilt
What we know: The Commodores have two All-SEC performers in LB Jonathan Goff and WR Earl Bennett. Goff may be the best LB in the entire conference--and that's saying something. He's one of the most underappreciated and underrated players in America. Same could be said for Bennett. He gives QB Chris Nickson a guy to lean on when under pressure. Nickson is also an underrated player, he's mobile and commands the offense effectively.
What we don't know: Is the rest of the team talented enough to compete in the conference? The team always plays hard and show more heart than some better teams, but the lack of talent might be too much to overcome. They have enough experience returning to make a bowl game but it'll be tough in the SEC.

West Division

Alabama
What we know: The offense won't be as sporadic as last year. QB John Parker Wilson has a whole year of experience under his belt and he'll be protected by a good offensive line led by super sophomore OT Andre Smith. He's easily the best player on this team and he's only in his second season. They've got veterans at receiver, all that is needed is a running back to step up. The defense should also be great, resembling Saban's tough D's at LSU.
What we don't know: Can they finally beat Auburn? I don't know how the Crimson Tide faithful would react to a sixth consecutive loss to their hated in-state rivals. They're good enough to do it and they've got a big game coach in Saban but the game is at Auburn.
Arkansas
What we know: The Razorbacks have the best running back tandem in the nation. Darren McFadden and Felix Jones each ran for over 1,000 yards and had 20 rushing TD's combined. Opposing defenses are going to put 8 or 9 men in the box on almost every play but that probably won't be enough.
What we don't know: Can they focus after all the offseason turmoil? The situation between Houston Nutt and a local reporter leave his status with the team in question. That and his subpar record (not counting last year). He also had to suffer through several transfers, most notably that of star QB Mitch Mustain. He had to replace his offensive coordinator after a play calling power struggle with former OC Gus Malzahn. With a tough conference road schedule, I don't see the team being able to recover.
Auburn
What we know: The pass rush will be among the best in the nation. The Tigers return both starting DEs and have a strong LB corps for reinforcements. Actually the entire defense will be among the best in the nation, but it will be a result of their ability to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
What we don't know: Who runs the ball? Auburn hasn't had a problem putting quality running backs on the field in what seems like a decade, but with Brad Lester unavailable this could be the teams biggest roadblock to winning the division.
LSU
What we know: The Tigers are a complete team. They have a great running game, quality receivers, a solid offensive line and a capable quarterback. The defense has a dominant line, quick LBs and blanketing coverage. The schedule also sets up as well as it can for an SEC team with Florida and Auburn coming to the Bayou and Alabama the only real road test, and that might only be true because of the arrival of Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa.
What we don't know: Can they handle the hype? They're expected to finish the regular season undefeated and go on the the BCS Title game. They need to not read their own press clippings and ingnore the praise they hear from the media.
Ole Miss
What we know: The running game should be goood with RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis and OT Michael Oher. It needs to be with whoever plays quarterback so there's less pressure on him. The defensive line is among the best in the conference. They have three players who have a shot on 1st or 2nd team All-SEC.
What we don't know: Can they find a consistent starter at QB? Brent Schaeffer was touted as the savior of the program last spring but he was extremely inconsistent when he played. Seth Adams came in and did a much better job passing the ball; however, Schaeffer does have the better tools. If he can focus mentally, he'll be the man at the end of the season.
Mississippi State
What we know: The offense is anemic. There's not enough talent or experience here to make a difference in the SEC. As long as this is true, the Bulldogs will still be in the cellar of the West.
What we don't know: Will Sylvester Croom get more time? He does deserve it but if he'll get it is up in the air. The school needs ot dedicate more of its money into improving facilities, so the school can attract better recruits.

Offensive Player of the Year
RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas
This is trickier than it looks because opponents will be out for this guy. But McFadden is special. He's the most talented player in the nation and he'll be able to overcome anything thrown at him. Plus he'll be able to stay fresh with teammate Felix Jones giving him breathers.
Defensive Player of the Year
DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU
He's the most dominant player in college football and would've been a top 10 pick in last year's draft but he opted to come back and win a championship. That shows he's motivated and he'll lead a defense that is the best in the country.
Impact Newcomer
LB Rolando McClain, Alabama
He's getting the start in the opener and he'll play enough to make a difference on this defense. He's too talented to keep off the field. Shows a great motor with good quickness and solid coverage skills.

Projected Finish
East
1. South Carolina
2. Georgia
3. Florida
4. Tennessee
5. Kentucky
6. Vanderbilt
West
1. LSU
2. Auburn
3. Alabama
4. Arkansas
5. Ole Miss
6. Mississippi State

SEC Championship Game: LSU over South Carolina
Steve Spurrier has won the conference championship in his third year at Duke and Florida. He won't do it for the Gamecocks but getting to the conference championship game would be just as significant accomplishment considering his division and who he'd be playing in the game. It's LSU's year in the SEC and they'll take advantage of it.

BIG XII

North Division

Colorado

What we know: The Buffaloes will be much more consistent on offense. Last year's QB Bernard Jackson was violently sporadic so the staff moved him WR in the offseason. Either Cody Hawkins (Coach Dan Hawkins son) or JC transfer Nick Nelson will try and put points on the board. The defense will be led by their LB corps of Jordan Dizon, Michael Sipili, and Brad Jones. The rest of the defense has the potential to be in the top half of the conference.

What we don't know: Can the offensive line protect the QB and open holes for the teams runners? Hawkins brought in some quality recruits led by massive OT Ryan Miller, but if the team depends on the newcomers to shore up the problems on the line, they'll be in trouble.

Iowa State

What we know: The offense should be explosive being led by seniors Bret Meyer at QB and Todd Blythe at WR. These two have connected on numerous occasions during the three previous years and one shouldn't expect anything different this season. If the Cyclones fix their offensive line, they won't have any problems putting points on the board.

What we don't know: Can the incoming transfers make a difference on D? Iowa St. returns eight starters but that might not be a good thing. Last season they gave up too many big plays and struggled with consistency. Gene Chizik won't tolerant incompetance from the incumbents so don't be surprised to see alot of shake ups early on.

Kansas

What we know: The Jayhawks have a potential All-American in junior CB Aqib Talib. He's a great coverage guy with enough speed to cover deep threats. He's good enough that he could leave early and be an first or second round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

What we don't know: Can they close out games better than they did last year? Five of their losses were either by a score or less or a result of giving up second half leads. If the Jayhawks had won one of those, they would've gone to a bowl game.

Kansas State

What we know: The team has the needed experience to return to a bowl game. Everyone now has a year under head coach Ron Prince's strategy and he bolstered his recruiting class with JC transfers.

What we don't know: Can Josh Freeman cut down on his mistakes and make this offense a threat? Last season he had nearly three times as many interceptions as touchdowns. He needs to shore up his inconsistent play in order for the Wildcats to win.

Missouri

What we know: The Tigers are contenders for the North Division. On paper, the only challenge they'll face in getting to the Big XII championship game is Nebraska and they're breaking in a new QB. With Chase Daniel directing the offense, the expectations at Missouri are high.

What we don't know: Can they get over the hump? If the Tigers don't get to the conference championship game, it will be a bitter disappointment. They have the talent and experience to do it, all they have to do is execute.

Nebraska

What we know: The Cornhuskers won't have a huge dropoff in offensive productino. Arizone St. QB transfer Sam Keller is talented and experienced enough to lead this team. Zac Taylor was consistent and a leader and Keller should provide much of the same.

What we don't know: Who steps up on the defensive line and running back? Tailback shouldn't present that big of a problem with Marlon Lucky ready to take most of the handoffs, the only problem is experience depth due to injuries. The defensive line could be a huge roadblock on the way to a division crown. Most of the starters must be replaced with no clear cut players ready to step up.

South Division
Baylor
What we know: The Bears are bad, real bad. The defense gave up more than 30 points in their last seven games. Heres even more bad news-- They expect to start 5 freshmen or sophomores on defense. Don't look for too much improvement on defense.
What we don't know: Can the Bears stay competitive? Probalby not. They did win a few conference games this year, but I just can't see it happening this year. Their best bets are verses Colorado and Kansas, but both those teams should be improved from last year.
Oklahoma
What we know: The running game won't miss a beat. Allen Patrick did a great job filling in for an injured Adrian Peterson last year and is the starter. Redshirt freshmen DeMarco Murray would've seen playing time last year had it not been for an injury. The coaches are excited about his potential so don't be surprised to see him split carries with Patrick.
What we don't know: Can the Sooners move the ball through the air? They have enough weapons at receiver and tight end, led by junior WR Malcolm Kelly, to be successful but there is the question of who will be putting the ball in their hands. Redshirt Freshman Sam Bradford was named the starter over JC transfer Joey Halzle. I like the potential of true freshmen Keith Nichol, a decommit from Michigan St but the staff may redshirt him if either of the other two candidates perform well.
Oklahoma State
What we know: WR Adarius Bowman is a stud. QB Bobby Reid should have no problem moving the offense with Bowman catching passes out wide. The running game should be solid also with the top two backs returning.
What we don't know: Can the defense stop anybody? Last season's Defensive Coordinator Vance Bedford was forced out and took a post at Michigan, so this year's D will be led by Tim Beckham. He should improve the defense but we don't know if there is enough talent there for it to be good enough to challenge for the South Division title.
Texas
What we know: The defensive line will be great led by DT Frank Okam. They've got alot of studs in the trenches that should make it difficult to run on the Longhorns. Sophomore QB Colt McCoy will lead an offense filled with playmakers at the skill positions. They shouldn't have a problem with scoring.
What we don't know: Can they replace the DB's lost in the draft? The secondary wasn't very effective at stopping the pass last year and they lost two starting corners and a safety. If the Longhorns are going to challenge for a national title they have to shore up their pass defense.
Texas A&M
What we know: The offense will be explosive and will take care of the ball. QB Stephen McGee only threw two interceptions last year and while it may be difficult to repeat that feat he'll continue to make smart plays. He's a tough player who is perfect for running the offense. The Aggies have an interesting 1-2 punch at the tailback position in jumbo back Jorvorskie Lane and home run threat Mike Goodson. Theyll take the pressure of McGee so he won't have to do it all.
What we don't know: Can the defense improve? They played well at times last year but were very inconsistent. There's talent on the line but in order to take the next step there needs to be solid play every down.
Texas Tech
What we know: As always the Red Raiders will score points through the air. QB Graham Harrell returns and should be improved in his second season as a starter. The top receivers are gone but that shouldn't present a problem with lots of talent waiting in the wings.
What we don't know: Can they stop the run? They gave up an average of nearly four yards a carry last season and they aren't expected to be much better talent wise. If they want to challenge for a division title they're going to have to stop the run better and more often.

Offensive Player of the Year
WR Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma
This is all dependant on whether the Sooners find a viable replacement for Paul Thompson at quarterback. If they do, Kelly will make sure that he'll always have someone to throw to. He's the most talented player in the conference and there isn't a great deal of quality cornerbacks in the Big XII. Even if Kelly comes to face one, he'll have the edge in size at 6'4" with blazing speed.
Defensive Player of the Year
DT Frank Okam, Texas
I would give it to Kansas CB Aqib Talib but the fact that he plays for the Jayhawks will hurt him. Okam leads a great Longhorn defensive line and will be nearly impossible to get past with his big frame and strength.
Impact Newcomer
WR Dez Bryant, Oklahome State
I could go with Nebraska QB Sam Keller but I'll stick with a freshman for this category. While opposing defenses will try and double teammate Adarius Bowman, Bryant will have his way with the rest of the secondary. He's one of the most hyped recruits in Cowboy history and he'll show exactly why that is this season.

Projected Finish
North Division
1. Missouri
2. Nebraska
3. Iowa St.
4. Kansas St.
5. Kansas
6. Colorado
South Division
1. Oklahome
2. Texas
3. Oklahoma St.
4. Texas A&M
5. Texas Tech
6. Baylor

Big XII Championship Game: Oklahoma over Missouri
If Oklahoma can find a consistent QB, they'll win the conference. They have the best combination of a running game and solid defense. Missouri gets over the hump but can't challenge the Sooners in terms of talent.

In honor of the start of the college football season this week I'm going to be previewing each of the BCS conferences for you. I'll try to give some anaylsis on every team and my picks for the conference's best offensive and defensive players.

ACC

Atlantic Division

Boston College
What we know: The Eagles return loads of experience and should be the favorite to win the division. QB Matt Ryan will once again lead a steady offense. The defense should be solid.
What we don't know: How the team will respond to new head coach Jeff Jagodzynski? He was on the staff a few years ago so he's not unfamiliar with the program. How much will the defense suffer from the loss of stud LB Brian Toal? He was the most talented player on the team, but went down with an injury. In order to win the conference BC must replace his production.
Clemson
What we know: The Tigers won't have trouble controlling the ball on the ground. The dynamic backfield duo of James Davis and CJ Spiller combined for over 2000 yards and nearly 30 touchdowns.
What we don't know: Who the QB will be? Cullen Harper is the safe pick but if he can't perform don't be surprised to see super recruit Wily Korn see a ton of time. He's a dual threat QB who fits OC Rob Spence's spread scheme perfectly. Can the defense replace DE Gaines Adams and both starting CBs? Sophomore DE Ricky Sapp has a ton of potential and should do a satisfactory job. There are no experience replacements in the secondary so it may be CB by committee.
Florida State
What we know: The defense will be solid if it can replace the lost talent at LB, but returning letterman Geno Hayes and Derek Nicholson should make sure that happens. Myron Rolle will lead a solid secondary that will make it difficult for opposing offense to score on them.
What we don't know: Who plays QB? Drew Weatherford was named the starter, but he throws too many interceptions. Xavier Lee is probably more talented and is a better athlete but he's just as inconsistent. To challenge for a title, the Seminoles need someone to grab this job and run with it.
Maryland
What we know: The running game will be solid with two experienced backs returning. They'll run behind a stud OL Jared Gaither. The linbacking corps will be effective with returnees Erin Henderson and Trey Covington.
What we don't know: Can Jordan Steffy lead the offense? Last year's starter Sam Hollenbach wasn't flashy but he didn't make many mistakes. Steffy has more tools than his predecessor, he just needs to learn how to be effecient and smart with them.
North Carolina State
What we know: The Wolfpack will be better on offense this year under Tom O'Brien. His teams at BC were never exciting, but they seemed to always get the job done. They beat the teams they should beat and one a few that they weren't supposed to. I guess what I'm saying is that this team will be more consistent than previous years.
What we don't know: Can Daniel Evans lead this team? He looked very impressive in his first few games but looked last towards the end of the season. He'll have to produce because he has potential behind him in Justin Burke and Nebraska transfer Harrison Beck. Wake Forest
What we know: Jim Grobe is an excellent coach. He won't let the team fall flat on its face. They may not defend their conference championship but they will be competitive. The kicking game and defense will be solid once again. Look for low scoring outcomes in most of the Demon Deacon's games.
What we don't know: Who will Riley Skinner throw the ball to? They didn't have a go to receiver last year, but their top two receivers are gone. Someone needs to step up to take some pressure off Skinner and RB Micah Andrews.

Coastal Division

Duke
What we know: These players will be smart. They are students at Duke, aren't they? They have two experienced quarterbacks, but one needs to emerege as the man. The Blue Devils won't win more than two games.
What we don't know: Can anyone other than Steve Spurrier win at Duke? The school cycles through lots of coaches and nobody seems to win.
Georgia Tech
What we know: The defense will be dominate. It was difficult to score on them last year and it will be true even more so this season. LB Philip Wheeler is a stud and will lead this aggressive defense. On offense, the running game will be good with quiet phenom Tashard Choice. Look for at least 1200 yards from him.
What we don't know: Will they be able to throw the ball? While Taylor Bennett showed that he's a better and more efficient QB than Reggie Ball was, he won't have Calvin Johnson to throw it to. A receiver must step up and try and achieve half of Johnson's production.
Miami (FL)
What we know: The defense will be excellent. There is so much talent on this side of the ball that the Hurricanes may not even have to worry about scoring alot. S Kenny Phillips and DE Calais Campbell will be first round draft picks if they opt to leave early, and will lead the defense to success. The running game will be the best it has been since Willis McGahee played here. Javarris James was thought to be a shoe in for the feature back, but the arrival of stud recruit Graig Cooper has put that situation in question. Both are quality backs and will take pressure off whoever plays QB.
What we don't know: Kirby or Kyle? The Hurricanes should have been a much better team than last season. The inconsitency at the QB position contributed to their subpar record. Either senior Kyle Wright or junior Kirby Freeman needs to step up as the starter and lead this team to fulfill their potential.
North Carolina
What we know: The Tar Heels will have fresh talent. If the incumbents do not perform, there will be freshman there to take their jobs. Butch Davis did a great job of getting stud recruits in his few months between getting hired and national signing day. The entire roster should be more driven by the fact that there's someone waiting behind them.
What we don't know: Who plays QB? This seems to be a theme in the ACC. Joe Dailey and Cam Sexton seemed to run themselves out of the job in the spring. TJ Yates also had something to do with that with his performance in spring and fall camp. If he can't get the job done, fellow freshman and super talent Mike Paulus (brother of Duke point guard Greg Paulus) will be waiting in the wings to show what he can do.
Virginia
What we know: The Cavaliers won't make the same mistakes as last year. They returned alot of starters who now have the experience needed to compete which they didn't have last year. Most of them were freshmen or sophomores who were thrown into the fire.
What we don't know: Will Al Groh get the job done? After a few quality seasons, Virginia nearly collapsed last year. He's now on the hot seat and his team will be expected to challenge for the division title and go to a quality bowl game. If he doesn't do that, he may be searching the classified this offseason.
Virginia Tech
What we know: The defense is probably the best in the ACC. Xavier Adibi, Vince Hall, Brandon Flowers-- the Hokie defense is filled with names that could be first round draft picks in the NFL Draft. Expect them to live up to their expectations. The running game should also be quality with returning starter at tailback Brandon Ore. The special teams are always good in Blacksburg and will continue to be so. Beamer Ball........nuff said.
What we don't know: Can Sean Glennon be more consistent? All he has to do to lead this team to the ACC title game is not turn the ball over and get the ball in the hands of the team's playmakers. If he can do that the team will be successful. If he's not, then the ball will fall into the hands of incoming freshman Tyrod Taylor. How good is the offensive line? The line seems to have been fixed up in the offseason by ductape. Not pretty but could be effective. Inexperience here doesn't bode well for their QB questions.

Offensive Player of the Year
RB Brandon Ore, Virginia Tech
The easy pick would be last year's recipient- Boston College QB Matt Ryan- but I think that it'll be a harder adjustment to a new coach than most people think. Ore is so consistent and underappreciated but I think that if Virginia Tech fulfills its potential, Brandon Ore will finally get the credit he deserves.
Defensive Player of the Year
LB Philip Wheeler, Georgian Tech
He's the complete package at his position. He's the best player on a great Yellow Jacket's defense. Plus with the aggressive blitz packages called by the coaches, he'll have plenty of opportunities to put up gaudy numbers.
Impact Newcomer
DT Marvin Austin, North Carolina
He was a top 20 recruit and is physically ready to handle the load of big time college football. He'll get alot of playing time early and may earn a starting spot midway through the season.

PROJECTED FINISH
Atlantic Division
1. Florida State
2. Clemson
3. Boston College
4. Wake Forest
5. Maryland
6. NC State
Coastal Division
1. Virginia Tech
2. Miami (FL)
3. Georgia Tech
4. Virginia
5. North Carolina
6. Duke

ACC Championship Game: Florida State over Virginia Tech
For some reason I feel the Seminoles will return to national prominence. Bobby Bowden won't let his team perform like they did last season. They'll fulfill their immense potential if a QB steps in and performs consistently. That's a huge if, so I'm definately going out on a limb here.

Hello!

Welcome to my blog. I'm going to be a freshmen in college and my professors told me to write as much as possible so I thought the best way to do this was a blog. I'm going to write about a little bit of everything. My obsessions: the University of Michigan, Detroit Tigers, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Classic Rock... stuff like that, as well as whatever maybe be going on in the world today. Tell me what you think of my posts. Thanks and I look forward to informing you about anything and everything.
